The Story
About Me

In 1977, my parents — like many others — heard rumors of a revolution on the horizon. As Assyrian Catholics, a religious minority in Iran, they worried about my safety. Since I had attended a French Catholic school, they made the difficult decision to send me to boarding school in France at just sixteen.
I won’t dwell on the challenges of being a teenage girl living abroad, far from my family — and especially from my mother, who was my whole universe. But I’m deeply grateful for those years. I believe God guided me onto the right path and protected me from going astray. I grew up quickly, became mentally stronger and more resilient, and learned to rely on myself.
I think cooking is one of the best ways to bring people together. To me, it has always been a happy place. Some of my favorite memories were created around our family table, thanks to my beautiful mother. I remember coming home from school as a young girl to a house filled with the aroma of her baking and cooking.
“Her love was tasted in every bite, by everyone.”
Our home was filled almost every night with family, friends, laughter, and funny stories — and, of course, my mother’s cooking. Appetizers, main courses, desserts: all made from scratch, with so much thought and attention to detail.
Years later, living alone in the U.S. and away from my mother for over a decade, I began trying to recreate her recipes. When the regime change in Iran made it difficult to stay in touch with my parents, I didn’t let that stop me — I gathered the recipes of everything my beloved mother had made for us. In my early twenties, I discovered that cooking her food was how I could still feel emotionally connected to her. Years of her nurturing love and discipline were, by then, embedded in me. It was as if cooking brought those sweet memories back to life.
I hope my recipes can bring joyful memories to my readers, too.
Thank you for visiting my website. I hope you’ll join me on this journey of love, cooking, and sharing — traveling to a faraway place without ever leaving your kitchen. Welcome.
